Law enforcement agencies, Loma Linda University Health (LLUH) team members, community partners, and supporters gathered on Wednesday, December 3, for the 11th annual No-Shave November celebration, closing out a month dedicated to raising awareness for cancer prevention, early detection, and innovative treatment.
This year's collective effort raised over $24,000, bringing together donations from law enforcement agencies and community contributions.
The funds raised through No-Shave November play a pivotal role in advancing the Cancer Center's mission. Mark Reeves, MD, PhD, director of the Loma Linda University Cancer Center, highlighted how community support fuels some of the most promising innovations in cancer care.
"From cell therapy to emerging treatments patients may not even realize they'll one day benefit from; this work is shaping the future of care." Reeves said. "I'm profoundly grateful to everyone who supports this mission, not only for the funding but for believing in the power of research to transform lives."
No-Shave November has grown into a beloved tradition that unites law enforcement agencies across the Inland Empire, LLUH members, and the broader community.
Participants from local law enforcement departments including the San Bernardino Police Department, Upland Police Department, San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, Beaumont Police Department, and several others, joined in the month-long challenge of letting their hair grow to spark conversations around cancer awareness.
True to tradition, the afternoon included friendly competitions across categories such as best mustache, best beard, best beard attempt, whitest beard, best eyebrows, and best head of hair.
As in years past, a pop-up barbershop offering free straight-razor shaves brought the month to a meaningful close a symbolic gesture marking the end of fundraiser.
Another significant contribution came from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Rodeo, which donated $10,000 from this year's Sheriff's Rodeo celebration to support cancer research and patient care at the Cancer Center.
The No-Shave November tradition continues to unite the community around a shared mission: raising awareness and support for cancer prevention, early detection, and advanced treatment.
Loma Linda University Cancer Center remains committed to providing leading-edge cancer care for patients across the Inland Empire and beyond. With a focus on compassion, innovation, and expanding research, the center strives to improve survival outcomes and quality of life for every patient it serves.
