What to Watch for at Nashville Superspeedway

  • The final showdown: The Borchetta Bourbon Music City Grand Prix from Nashville Superspeedway is the final race of the 2025 NTT INDYCAR SERIES schedule. The 17-race calendar has seen Honda teams and drivers win 12 races so far this year, across all four major circuit types the series races on. Alex Palou scored wins at St. Pete, Thermal, Barber, the Indy GP, Road America, Iowa and Laguna Seca-as well as victory in the 109th running of the Indianapolis 500. Kyle Kirkwood took wins at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach, Detroit Grand Prix and World Wide Technology Raceway. And Scott Dixon took the win for Honda at the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio presented by the all-new Passport.
  • In perfect harmony: 2024 marked IndyCar's return to Nashville Superspeedway for the first time since 2008, however the series raced on a downtown temporary street circuit from 2021-2023. Honda has been victorious in every Nashville race since the series returned to the area. Marcus Ericsson won the inaugural Nashville Music City Grand Prix in spectacular fashion-recovering from an airborne accident to take the checkered flag. Ericsson's then-Chip Ganassi Racing teammate Scott Dixon took the win in 2022, while his current teammate at Andretti Global, Kyle Kirkwood, found victory lane in 2023. Andretti Global's Colton Herta was victorious at the first race on the Nashville Superspeedway oval at the season finale last year. Herta's win kicked off an 11-race winning streak for Honda-the last race of 2024 and the first 10 races of 2025.
  • Youth movement: There is still one championship to be settled in the 2025 NTT INDYCAR SERIES-the rookie of the year honors. Rahal Letterman Lanigan's Louis Foster stretched his lead from six points to eight points with a 17th place result last time out at the Milwaukee Mile. Foster's rookie campaign has been highlighted by strong showings in qualifying-notably a pole position at Road America. The young Brit has made the Firestone Fast Six round of qualifying three times this year, and has scored a best finish of 11th at both the Sonsio Grand Prix on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course and at Road America.
  • We are the champions: While the rookie of the year title is still up for grabs, both the drivers' and manufacturers' championships were settled at Portland International Raceway with two races left to run. Honda scored their seventh championship in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and 11th in American Open Wheel competition. Honda's previous titles came in 1996, 1998, 1999, 2001, 2004, 2005 and a four-year consecutive run from 2018 to 2021. Alex Palou's eight victories-including triumph at the Indy 500-propelled him to a third-consecutive drivers' title and fourth in just five years. Palou's championship title is the 20th Honda-powered drivers' championship in American Open Wheel competition.
