TCSG Students Earn 36 Medals at National SkillsUSA Championships
Atlanta, Ga.-Students from the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) earned 36 medals at the 2026 SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC) in Atlanta, helping Georgia secure its position as the sixth-highest medal-winning state in the nation.
TCSG competitors captured 17 gold, 6 silver, and 13 bronze medals during the national competition, which brought together more than 19,000 students, educators, and industry partners from across the country to showcase excellence in career and technical education. Combined with Georgia's secondary division competitors, the state earned a total of 55 national medals, placing Georgia sixth nationally in overall medal count.
"Georgia's SkillsUSA competitors continue to demonstrate the talent, determination, and technical expertise that define the strength of our workforce," said TCSG Commissioner Greg Dozier. "These students have proven themselves among the best in the nation, and their success reflects the outstanding instruction, industry partnerships, and workforce-focused education taking place every day across our 22 technical colleges."

Additionally, several Georgia competitors and advisors received prestigious national recognitions during the conference. The Dr. John Scott Award, presented annually to the highest-scoring individual competitor in SkillsUSA Georgia Postsecondary, was awarded to Angela Wilson of Augusta Technical College for her outstanding performance in the Graphics Imaging Sublimation competition. The Curtiss Bell Award, recognizing the highest-scoring team competitors in SkillsUSA Georgia Postsecondary, was presented to the Crime Scene Investigation team from Columbus Technical College, consisting of Jessica Gray, Jerica Mannthey, and Alexis Peacock.
Georgia also received recognition beyond the competition floor. SkillsUSA Georgia Postsecondary was honored as a state association for its membership growth during the 2025-2026 academic year, highlighting the continued expansion of student engagement in career and technical education programs across the state.
Among the conference's most visible student leaders was Corina Stewart of Savannah Technical College, who served as the SkillsUSA National College/Postsecondary Secretary. In this national leadership role, Stewart helped facilitate conference activities and ceremonies before an audience of more than 19,000 attendees.
The conference also celebrated the achievements of Georgia's educators and SkillsUSA leaders. Dr. Tjazha Mazhani, TCSG Student Affairs Manager and SkillsUSA Georgia Postsecondary State Director, received a 10-Year Organization Service Pin in recognition of her decade of service to SkillsUSA. Mazhani was also re-elected to serve on the SkillsUSA National Board of Directors, continuing Georgia's representation in the organization's national leadership. Sherrie Rowe, Department Head for Design & Media Production Technology at Augusta Technical College, was recognized as a recipient of the 2026 Outstanding Career and Technical Educator Award, one of SkillsUSA's highest honors for educators who demonstrate exceptional commitment to student success and workforce development.
