WASHINGTON - U.S. Secret Service Director Sean Curran announced the appointment of Chris Kraft to the position of chief information officer Dec. 19.
Kraft previously served as the agency's acting chief information officer, during which time he implemented initiatives to streamline operations, enhance service delivery and align technology with mission-critical priorities, including advancing the agency's adoption of artificial intelligence for protective operations.
Kraft came to the Secret Service from the Department of Homeland Security, where he served as the acting chief technology officer and deputy chief technology officer for AI and emerging technology. While at the Department of Homeland Security, he led enterprise-wide AI adoption, deploying the Department's first generative AI platform, DHSChat, and establishing the Department of Homeland Security AI Corps, the largest dedicated federal AI team.
Prior to his work with the Department of Homeland Security, Kraft served as assistant administrator for financial systems at the Federal Emergency Management Agency, where he modernized financial systems and introduced robotic process automation to enhance efficiency. He also held executive roles at SiriusXM, leading large-scale financial system integrations and IT transformations.
Kraft holds a Juris Doctor from The George Washington University School of Law and a Bachelor of Science in decision sciences/management information systems from George Mason University.
As chief information officer, Kraft will oversee IT operations, software and cybersecurity for the agency, managing a workforce of 400 personnel.
