Suspect Arrested after Violent Incidents in Hazelwood Neighborhood; Firearm Recovered

A suspect has been arrested, and a firearm recovered, following assaults and a shooting in the Hazelwood Neighborhood.

On March 17, 2026, at approximately 11:57 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to multiple violent incidents involving a male suspect who assaulted two separate women in unprovoked attacks near an apartment complex in the 12300 Block of Southeast Ash Street. Shortly after, he confronted a group of individuals, returned to his residence, armed himself with a firearm, and fired multiple rounds at the group on Ash Street. The victims fled the area, and no injuries were reported.

Officer identified the suspect and a follow-up investigation determined he intentionally targeted multiple individuals and also made threats against police.

On March 27, 2026, at 5 a.m., the Enhanced Community Safety Team (ECST) working with the Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) took the suspect into custody and executed a search warrant at his apartment. Officers recovered a 9 mm firearm believed to be used in the shooting.

The suspect, Anthony Richardson, 51, was taken into custody and was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
