California Federation of Labor Unions, AFL-CIO President Lorena Gonzalez responds to President Trump's Primetime Speech

The California Labor Movement is committed to defending voting rights and free and fair elections.

Sacramento, CA - (Thursday, July 16, 2026) - Lorena Gonzalez, President of the California Federation of Labor Unions, AFL-CIO issued the following statement in response to President Trump's primetime speech on Thursday:

"This President isn't trying to clean up our elections, he's trying to steal them. Study after study confirms voter fraud in any form is extremely rare.

While the Trump Administration tries to destroy our democracy, the Labor Movement will fight to save it and protect working people's right to vote in fair and free elections."
