Concord, NH - Attorney General John M. Formella, New Hampshire State Police Colonel Mark B. Hall, and Whitefield Police Department Chief Maxwell Hodgdon announce further information concerning an ongoing investigation into a shooting incident that took place on August 11, 2026, at the Hilltop Manor Trailer Park in Whitefield, New Hampshire.
In the early morning hours of August 11, Whitefield Police Department, Lancaster Police Department, and New Hampshire State Police responded to a motor vehicle accident, which eventually led them to discover a shooting incident at 3 Hilltop Manor Street, in Whitefield, New Hampshire. When officers entered the residence, they found three adult family members, who were suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. These family members were Amy Blake (age 59) and her two sons, Michael Marro (age 41) and Eric Blake, Jr. (age 29). Eric Blake, Jr. was pronounced dead at the hospital and an autopsy conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined his cause of death was a gunshot wound of head and his manner of death was suicide.
Amy Blake has since died as a result of her injuries. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner performed an autopsy on Amy Blake and determined that her cause of death was a gunshot wound of head, and her manner of death was homicide. Michael Marro, who suffered a catastrophic gunshot wound to the head, remains in critical condition.
An additional victim, Eric Blake, Sr. (age 53), also suffered a gunshot wound and was able to drive himself to the hospital where he reported the incident. He is expected to survive his injuries.
Based upon the information available at this time, it appears that in the early morning hours of August 11, Eric Blake, Jr., shot Amy Blake, Michael Marro, and Eric Blake, Sr., and then shot and killed himself. Because Eric Blake, Jr., did not survive, criminal charges cannot be brought against him for his actions.
While the investigation remains open and ongoing, it appears that mental illness was a likely contributing factor in Eric Blake, Jr.'s actions during this incident. All citizens in crisis, or anyone with a loved one in crisis, are reminded that they can call, text or chat with trained crisis counselors any time, any day, by calling the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 9-8-8, or contact the Crisis Text Line by texting TALK to 741741.
No further information is expected to be released at this time.
