The Norwegian Government has decided to provide Danish authorities with assistance in dealing with possible drone threats during the high-level meetings taking place in Denmark this week.
´Denmark is a close neighbour and a NATO Ally. When Denmark requests support of this kind, it is important that we respond. In doing so, we show solidarity with Denmark and our commitment to European security. The security of Denmark is also our security´, said Minister of Defence Tore O. Sandvik.
The decision follows a request from the Danish authorities in advance of the summits being held in Denmark this week. Denmark is hosting a summit for EU heads of state on 1 October and a meeting of the European Political Community (EPC) on 2 October.
The assignment means that Norwegian materiel and personnel will support the Danish Armed Forces in safeguarding security in connection with these meetings.
´For security reasons, the Government will not provide further details on which capabilities we are contributing, but we underline that the Armed Forces' national readiness remains ensured´, said Minister of Defence Sandvik.
