Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer Announces the Appointment of Jason Revoldt as the 22nd Fire Chief of the Orlando Fire Department

WHAT:
Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer proudly announces the appointment of Jason Revoldt as the 22nd Fire Chief of the Orlando Fire Department. In October, Chief Revoldt was appointed as Interim Fire Chief and he will be officially sworn in at a later date during a Change of Command Ceremony.

"I'm truly humbled by the trust placed in me by Mayor Dyer, the residents of Orlando, and-most importantly-my fire family," Fire Chief Revoldt said. "For nearly a quarter of a century, I've been fortunate to serve this department, and I promise to never take that trust for granted."

As Fire Chief, Revoldt will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Orlando Fire Department and serve as chief counsel to the Mayor on matters of public safety. In January, Chief Revoldt will mark 24 years of service with OFD, having served in multiple leadership and operational roles, including Arson/Bomb Commander, Deputy Chief of the Life Safety Bureau, and Fire Marshal.

NOTABLE ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
Chief Revoldt will become the first Orlando Fire Chief to also be a sworn law enforcement officer. During his tenure as an arson investigator, Chief Revoldt and his late K-9 arson partner, Nessie, helped solve countless arson cases throughout the State of Florida. While serving with the Arson/Bomb Squad, he helped play a role in the development of the Youth Fire Setters Program, which provides children ages 6-16 with a diversionary alternative to the juvenile justice system by educating them on the dangers of fire-setting.

As Deputy Chief of the Life Safety Bureau, Revoldt oversaw the construction of Fire Station 6, the development of temporary Fire Station 19, and the design of Fire Station 18. His expertise was instrumental in ensuring strategic station placement to best serve Orlando's growing communities, both now and in the future. He also placed a strong emphasis on first responder health and safety, a priority he will continue as Fire Chief while leading the development of future fire stations and the new Fire Training Center.

During his time as a field officer, Chief Revoldt received a Class IV Meritorious Award after saving a near-drowning victim at a retention pond. It's one OFD's most prestigious awards which recognizes personnel who demonstrate exceptional judgment and go above and beyond the call of duty, resulting in the saving of a life.

VISION AND GOALS:
Fire Chief Revoldt's vision for the Orlando Fire Department is to continue progressing alongside the city's growth and evolving emergency service needs. He is committed to maintaining a family-oriented culture within the department and the community while upholding OFD's 140-year tradition of professional development and top-rated service for Orlando residents.

ORLANDO FIRE DEPARTMENT BACKGROUND:
Established in 1885, the Orlando Fire Department began as a group of dedicated volunteers serving to protect the lives and property of the 1,666 citizens of Orlando. Today that department has grown to 700 members who annually serve millions of visitors, resident and businesses in Orlando.

The Orlando Fire Department is rated in the top one percent of fire departments in the United States with an ISO 1 classification.
