Built on a flat site covered with small scrubby pine and juniper trees, Wickiup Station is a foundation for expanding access to affordable housing in Wickiup Junction area of La Pine, Oregon. The first phase of the development started welcoming residents last month with 39 apartments, 10 of which are set aside for Veterans, and all of which are affordable for those earning 30-60% of the area median income (AMI).
Our developer partners at the Foundation for Affordable Housing (FFAH) intentionally incorporated wood accents in the industrial modern design to honor the area's strong ties to the timber industry and preserved as many trees as possible to uphold La Pine's community values of respecting nature and open space. Wickiup residents enjoy amenities like a large community room, game rooms, a fitness area, a playground, and raised bed gardens.
Supportive services are available through Embrace Resident Services, FFAH's nonprofit arm dedicated to helping residents build stability and connection. Phase I is just the beginning of Wickiup's positive impact on the community with 91 more apartments on the way with the next two phases!
Congratulations to our partners on achieving this milestone in working towards a society where increased access to affordable housing empowers every individual and family to reach their full potential.
