Detectives Investigating Apparent Robbery-Related Fatal Shooting on McMurray Drive

Homicide detectives are investigating Saturday's 11:50 p.m. apparent robbery-related fatal shooting of Jose Manuel Jimiez Luna, 24, outside his apartment building at 570 McMurray Drive.

Luna and his wife had left work together and were traveling home in separate vehicles. As she was parking her Dodge Durango at their apartment complex, she was approached by a masked gunman who ordered her to the back of the vehicle. The suspect opened the rear trunk and stole her wallet and cell phone. The gunman then made her walk to the passenger side of the vehicle where he fired two shots into the Durango near where the couple's infant child was seated. Simultaneously, Luna, who had been following his wife in his Ram pickup truck, walked around the front of the Durango where he was approached by a second armed suspect. According to witnesses, Luna got into a physical struggle with one of the suspects and was shot. His wife was pistol whipped and shoved to the ground. Both suspects fled. The stolen cell phone was later located in the middle of the road in the 400 block of Blackman Road.

Anyone with information about Luna's murder is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward.
