Bettendorf Fire and Police Departments Respond to 2200 Block of Kimberly Road

May 22, 2026 - On Friday, May 22, 2026 at 10:48 a.m., the Bettendorf Fire and Police Departments received a 911 call reporting a vehicle submerged in a pond in the 2200 block of Kimberly Road.

Upon arrival, a Bettendorf Police Officer entered the water in an attempt to rescue the driver from the sinking vehicle. Before the officer reached the vehicle, the driver - and only occupant of the vehicle - was able to escape through a window and reach the shore safely. No one was injured in the incident. Bettendorf Police are coordinating efforts to remove the vehicle from the pond.

At this time, it is believed there was a minor vehicle collision on Kimberly Road. As the driver pulled into a nearby parking lot following the collision, a mechanical failure occurred, causing the vehicle to roll into the pond. Bettendorf Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident.
