Following Council direction provided at the spring financial retreat in March, the Town began a comprehensive review of its long-term financial priorities in response to financial pressures outside the Town's control, including recent state legislative changes that have reduced Gilbert's available revenue. This includes evaluating several major capital improvement projects to ensure they continue to provide the most valuable use of taxpayer dollars.
Given the scale of investment, several members of the current Council have expressed interest in reassessing the Gilbert Regional Park capital improvement project, which will be paused while the evaluation is completed.
We remain committed to investing in the critical infrastructure, amenities, and services that support our residents and contribute to the exceptional quality of life they expect.
We also recognize that residents care deeply about Gilbert Regional Park and understand there will be questions about what this means moving forward. We are committed to being transparent throughout this process. Additional information will be shared with the community as the evaluation progresses and future decisions are made.
