Georgia DOT Hosts Public Information Open House for SR 21 Widening

Rincon, GA - Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) is seeking public comment on the proposed widening of State Route (SR) 21 in Chatham and Effingham Counties.

Georgia DOT invites you to review project details and provide input through the virtual and in-person Public Information Open House (PIOH). The public can visit our online platform at Public Outreach and Community Engagement - Georgia DOT, then click on +Current Public Meeting scrolled to Project ID 0020172. The Open House meeting is scheduled for Thursday, November 12, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Macomber Park Building, located at 1104 Lexington Avenue in the City of Rincon.

The proposed project will expand SR 21 approximately 5 miles from four to six travel lanes, starting south of SR 30 and extending north of McCall Road. The project aims to accommodate growing traffic demands and increase roadway capacity. By using the existing median and roadway footprint where feasible, the project seeks to limit impacts on surrounding areas.

To learn more about the project and share your feedback, visit GDOT's Public Outreach and Community Engagement - Georgia DOT. Comments can be submitted for Project ID 0020172 until Saturday, December 12, 2026.

Written statements may be submitted to:
