Abacus Expands Regional Sales Coverage with Strategic Hires in Florida and Chicago

NEW YORK - August 18, 2026 - Abacus, a global managed IT and cybersecurity service provider built for highly regulated industries, announced it has expanded its U.S. sales organization with two senior hires covering the Southeast, Texas, and the Midwest.

Jay Park joins as Senior Sales Executive and Ryan Smith as Sales Executive, both in Sales and Business Development, reporting to Chief Revenue Officer Jonathan Shapiro. Park is based in Florida and covers the Southeast and Texas. Smith is based in Chicago and covers the Midwest.

Both regions are established markets for the firm. Abacus has supported clients across Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Palm Beach County for close to a decade, and expanded its Midwest presence in 2025 through its acquisition of Entara, a longstanding Chicago-based MSP and MSSP with a specialized incident response practice. Clients in regulated industries need a managed IT and security partner that they can work closely with to coordinate their daily IT needs in addition to critical security priorities-and increasingly expect their provider to be present in their own market, prompting Abacus' investment in the regions.

Park has spent the past five years selling governance, risk, and compliance services to asset managers, hedge funds, and private markets firms, first as an Enterprise Account Executive at ACA Group and then as Director of Client Solutions at Waystone. Smith joins from Marco Technologies, where he positioned managed IT and security services across the greater Chicago market.

Regulatory requirements are adding to demand. Amendments to SEC Regulation S-P require covered firms to maintain a written incident response program and to notify affected customers within 30 days of discovering unauthorized access; the final compliance deadline for smaller firms passed on June 3. Most SEC-registered advisers are small operations: 92.8 percent employ 100 or fewer people, and few run a security function internally.

"At Abacus, growth is driven by our ability to build strong relationships and support clients wherever they operate," said Jonathan Shapiro, Chief Revenue Officer at Abacus. "The addition of Jay and Ryan expands our reach across several of the country's fastest-growing business markets and positions us to better serve organizations throughout the Southeast, Texas, and the Midwest. Their local market knowledge will further deepen our presence in these regions, create new opportunities, and ensure that clients have direct access to the expertise and resources they need to achieve their business objectives. We see tremendous potential for continued expansion in these markets and are excited to invest in their long-term success."

The appointments are part of a continued build-out of Abacus' go-to-market organization globally, as the firm expands its coverage in step with where its clients operate and what their regulators require.
