Subject to AS 35.05.850, the Southeast Regional Land Office has received an application for the following:

APPLICANT: Fairweather Marine Services LLC

PROJECT NAME: LAS 35962

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION:

State-owned tide and submerged land at Eldred Rock in Lynn Canal, approximately 20 miles southeast of Haines at 58.9714°N 135.2213°W.

LEGAL DESCRIPTION:

Approximately 0.02 acres of state-owned tide and submerged land in NW1/4 NE1/4 Section 33, Township 33 South, Range 61 East, Copper River Meridian and the SW 1/4 SE 1/4 Section 27, Township 33 South, Range 61 East, Copper River Meridian.

REQUESTED ACTIVITY:

Fairweather Marine Services LLC (applicant) is requesting a five-year Land Use Permit for the seasonal (May 1- September 31) moorage of a commercial-use float, gangway, and viewing platform. The float (30 feet by 10 feet, 300 square feet) is composed of treated lumber and steel framing and will be anchored to the submerged land by steel chain and four 7,500-pound concrete blocks. The float is connected to an aluminum gangway (70 feet by 6 feet, 420 square feet) which is secured to the float and the viewing platform. The aluminum viewing platform (20 feet by 9 feet, 180 square feet) spans part of the tideland and into the uplands. Below MHW, the viewing platform is bolted to a concrete ramp by two 10-foot support beams and eight rock bolts. Above MHW the viewing platform is secured to the concrete ramp by rock bolts.

PROPOSED DATES OF USE:

Start: May 1, 2026

End: September 31, 2031

The public is invited to comment on this activity. The purpose of this notice is to gather input before a discussion is made on this activity.
