Press Release – May 12, 2026

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 12, 2026

(HARTFORD, CT) - The Connecticut Insurance Department (CID) today announced the launch of new Health Insurance Cost Estimator Tools within the Department's Consumer Information Center, providing residents with easier access to health care cost information through their health insurance companies.

The tools provide centralized access to participating insurers' existing member cost estimator resources through the CID Consumer Information Center. Eligible members can log in through their health insurer to view estimated out-of-pocket costs for common medical procedures and services based on their specific health plan.

The new resource connects consumers directly to participating health insurers' cost estimator tools, allowing eligible members to view estimated costs for common medical procedures and services using their insurer member login credentials. Consumers can better understand how health care costs may vary depending on where care is received and make more informed health care decisions. This resource provides centralized access to participating insurers' existing member cost estimator tools through the CID Consumer Information Center.

"Consumers deserve clear and accessible information about their healthcare costs," said Connecticut Insurance Commissioner Josh Hershman. "By providing direct access to insurer cost estimator tools in one place, this resource helps Connecticut residents better understand potential out-of-pocket expenses and make more informed decisions about their care."

The Health Insurance Cost Estimator Tools Allow Consumers To:

  • Access participating insurer cost estimator tools in one centralized location.
  • Review estimated costs for common health care services and procedures through their health insurer.
  • Make more informed decisions about care and insurance coverage.
  • Access additional health insurance educational resources through CID's Consumer Information Center.

The Consumer Information Center features information and resources across major lines of insurance, including health, auto, homeowners, flood, life insurance, annuities, and long-term care coverage. The Department will continue expanding the platform with additional resources and consumer tools.
