National Teacher Appreciation Week

National Teacher Day (Tuesday, May 5, 2026)

Great teachers make great public schools. On National Teacher Day, Tuesday, May 5, 2026, we pause to acknowledge the crucial role teachers play in making sure every student receives a quality education.

Because you are able to teach our kids geometry, differential equations, American and world history, civics and American government, the art of expressing thoughts through language, reading for understanding for everything from "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" to great novels like "The Grapes of Wrath" or "To Kill a Mockingbird," spelling and the difference between "cue" and "queue," SEL, 2 + 2, languages of the world, the scientific method, cellular biology, the physics of gravity and surface tension, how the solar system works, because you motivate students to push themselves to succeed-You deserve THANKS!

National Teacher Day, which falls during Teacher Appreciation Week (May 4-8, 2026), is a wonderful opportunity to remind the larger community of the value that teachers bring to the lives of children. It is also the perfect opportunity for school boards, school administrators, community members, and students to salute and thank those who touch the lives of children through teaching.
