Florida Inmate Sentenced to Almost Six Additional Years in Prison for Mailing Threatening Communications to a Federal Courthouse

Jacksonville, Florida - Alvin Martin Few (age 62) has been sentenced by U.S. District Judge Wendy W. Berger to five years and eleven months in federal prison for mailing threatening communications. He pleaded guilty on July 14, 2026. U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe made the announcement.

According to court documents, while Few was serving a life sentence plus 15 years for state convictions in Florida, he mailed a letter to the Wilkie D. Ferguson, Jr. U.S. Courthouse in Miami containing threatening statements including "all judges die." Few put a white powder inside the envelope and wrote that the powder was "very fatal." A clerk was exposed to the powder when he opened the letter. Lab testing later confirmed the white powder was benign and not a chemical or biological agent.

Few's new federal sentence will run consecutively to his prior life sentence.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the United States Marshals Service. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Richard L. Lasseter.
