CU professor Bublitz publishes poetry collection

Seasoned author and Cameron University professor David Bublitz has published his third book and second poetry collection, Line of Sight, with a release event scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 21, at the Leslie Powell Art Gallery in downtown Lawton. The free event is open to the public.

Line of Sight is a found poetry collection that Bublitz composed entirely from military related publications. He fully illustrated this collection with original art and graphics that will be featured at his release event and reading.

Bublitz, an associate professor in Cameron's Department of Communication, English and Foreign Languages, partnered for the second time with recent CU graduate Amanda Purser, owner of an indie publishing company, Queensbriar Press. Their previous project was his first children's book, The Depend Ant, published in June 2025.

They re-teamed this summer to finalize his poetry collection and publish Line of Sight, which is available now in paperback from Amazon.

Bublitz's published works reflect what he witnessed of his father's 20-year service in the U.S. Army, including deployments overseas.

"I write predominantly about my experience growing up as a military dependent," he said, "so partnering with Amanda has been a wonderful opportunity to engage in and encourage dialogue about the military experience while supporting a veteran-owned business - and a Cameron alumna."

Purser is an Army veteran and independently published author of two crime-fiction novels. She graduated from Cameron this past spring with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Media Production, and an associate degree in Strategic Communication. She aims to share relevant and necessary stories with the world and help writers navigate the publishing experience either independently or through her imprint.
