Resurfacing on Sixth Avenue Begins July 27

July 21, 2026

Smoother commutes through Midtown coming soon! The City of Tallahassee will begin a resurfacing project along Sixth Avenue from Thomasville Road to Magnolia Drive on July 27.

Work hours will generally be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

For drivers' convenience, traffic will continue to flow along the corridor during construction. One lane will be closed at a time as work progresses, and one lane will remain open to keep traffic flowing. Drivers can help ensure everyone gets home safely by avoiding distractions and slowing down near the work zone.

This work complements the recent resurfacing of Seventh Avenue following major underground utility upgrades along the corridor, including rehabilitation of sections of the sanitary sewer system, upgrading 4,500 feet of water main, replacing fire hydrants and more. The improvements along Seventh Avenue represent a more than $3.3 million investment to strengthen critical infrastructure.

This project represents another important investment in the City's infrastructure. Stay informed about City projects and news online at Talgov.com.
