Greene CATS Public Transit will be providing free rides system-wide on Election Day, November 4, 2025, for Greene County residents that may have mobility or other transportation barriers that would keep them from being able to vote or access other essential destinations.
The Pam and Gourdin Foundation, along with four service organizations, are teaming up with Greene CATS Public Transit to provide free rides on November 4, 2025. "Our foundation would like to see every eligible Greene County voter have the opportunity to participate in one of the essential fundamentals of our democracy: voting," stated Foundation representative David Johnston. Passengers on all Flex Routes will ride for free, providing them access to polling locations or other destinations along the way, including the Greene County Board of Elections office on Ledbetter Drive in Xenia.
Riders who schedule rides to their polling location or any other destination will also enjoy a free ride. Scheduled Rides require advance reservation and are provided on a space available basis, so submit your trip request as soon as possible by calling the Scheduling Office at (937) 708-8322, option 1. Requests must be submitted by noon Friday, October 31st. The Scheduling Office is open Monday - Friday, 8 am - 4 pm. For Flex Route schedules and maps, visit the Greene CATS website at www.greenecountyohio.gov/GreeneCATS.
All riders will receive a free tote bag with information about the four sponsoring organizations: American Legion Post 526 (Fairborn), FISH Food Pantry (Xenia), Knights of Columbus Council #3724 (Fairborn), and St. Vincent DePaul Society (Fairborn, Jamestown, Xenia, Yellow Springs). Members of these nonprofits provide thousands of volunteer hours to our community. They feed those in need, provide financial assistance, veteran's support, and education. We want our riders to continue carrying their message with them on the free tote bags. "We appreciate the sponsorship of the Foundation and these organizations to help Greene CATS provide riders with access to their polling locations, as well as employment, government, and social service agencies, medical facilities, and retail stores along the Flex Routes and throughout Greene County and into neighboring counties on election day," said Executive Director Ken Collier.
