4th Avenue Street Closure (Chicago Street to Richards Street) Effective July 6, 2026
JOLIET, Ill. - As part of the 4th Avenue and Eastern Avenue Water Main Improvement Project, new water main must be constructed along 4th Avenue between S. Chicago Street and Richards Street.
The work to construct the new water main along 4th Avenue will require a full street closure for thru traffic between Chicago Street and Richards Street. Local detours will be in place during this stage of the water main replacement project. This stage of construction is scheduled to begin July 6th and is anticipated to last approximately 8 weeks. Drivers are encouraged to seek alternative routes for the duration of the work.
