WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Representative Mike Bost (IL-12) this week joined Rep. Kim Schrier (WA-8) in introducing a resolution to recognize the mental health crisis facing America's agricultural producers and workforce. According to the National Rural Health Association, the suicide rate among farmers is 3.5 times higher than the general population. This bill would designate May 29th of this year as "Mental Health Awareness in Agriculture Day," recognizing the unique pressures faced by farmers, ranchers, and farmworkers across the country and raising awareness about the resources available to those in need.
