Request for Information on Recreational Use of Upper Lander CreekThe Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality - Water Quality Division (WDEQ-WQD) has prepared a draft Use Attainability Analysis (UAA) for recreation on a 2.5-mile segment of Upper Lander Creek. The draft UAA proposes that full-body contact water recreation is not an attainable designated use for this segment due to insufficient flow and water levels. WDEQ-WQD is seeking public input and documentation regarding the existence and potential for water recreation activities along the 2.5-mile segment of Upper Lander Creek. This includes information that could help determine whether full-body contact water recreation is currently occurring or could reasonably occur given the stream's inherent physical characteristics. We encourage the public to submit relevant evidence such as photographs or videos, flow or water level data, or other information along with associated locational data (e.g., latitude and longitude). The documentation submitted should be detailed enough to help WDEQ-WQD determine whether full-body contact water recreation is an existing or attainable use for this creek segment. For the creek segment's location and to read the draft UAA, visit here. Once this information gathering phase is complete and submitted documentation is reviewed for potential incorporation into the UAA, WDEQ-WQD will provide another public comment opportunity on the draft UAA. Requests for information about the draft UAA should be directed to Eric Hargett by email ([email protected]) or phone (307-777-7079). Written feedback on the draft UAA must be addressed to Eric Hargett, Wyoming DEQ/WQD, 200 W. 17th Street - 4th Floor, Cheyenne, WY, 82002, and be postmarked on or before 5:00 p.m. on October 22, 2025 to be considered. Electronic feedback may only be submitted through and accepted by the Wyoming DEQ comment portal provided at https://http://wq.wyomingdeq.commentinput.com/. Phone comments will not be accepted. Para español, visite deq.wyoming.gov. Americans with Disabilities Act: special assistance or alternative formats will be made available upon request for individuals with disabilities. Please provide at least fourteen (14) days before the close of the public comment period for such requests. |
