City to Sunset Long Beach Resource Line Following Conclusion of Program Funding

Long Beach, CA -The Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services (Health Department) will conclude the Long Beach Resource Line following the expiration of temporary funding sources, including initial federal COVID-19 relief funds. Launched in 2020 as part of the City's public health and emergency response to the pandemic, and although the City sustained the program through additional funding streams in the years following, ongoing financial support has not been secured to maintain operations. The final day of service will be Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2025.

The Long Beach Resource Line has been a trusted source of information for Long Beach residents seeking connections to essential services. Since its launch, the Line received over 10,000 calls, resulting in 9,415 connections to resources. While originally established in response to the pandemic, over the last five years, the program expanded to support additional community needs related to housing, food access, health care, mental health resources, legal aid, transportation and more.

After Sept. 30, the following services will no longer be offered:

• Live, phone-based resource navigation through the hotline
• Immediate connection and referrals to health and social service providers tailored to individual needs

Moving forward, the Health Department encourages community members seeking connections to community-based services to do so by utilizing the following resources:

• 2-1-1 LA is a nonprofit organization that provides free, confidential information and referrals connecting people in Los Angeles County to essential health, social and community services. People can browse resources online at 211la.org or dial 2-1-1 to be connected to a Community Resource Advisor. Assistance is free, confidential and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
• Unite Us Resource Referral Map is a free, centralized online hub where residents can search for, connect with and access local health, housing, food and social service resources in Long Beach through the coordinated-care network powered by Unite Us.

The sunsetting of the Resource Line was not caused by loss of federal funding associated with Executive Orders or policy shifts under the current Presidential Administration and did not result in any City staff layoffs; impacted staff were reassigned to other roles in the Health Department.
