During a working visit to Dagestan Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy met with Chair of the Government of the Republic of Dagestan Abdulmuslim Abdulmuslimov.
The discussion focused on the outcomes of the Second International Forum «Sustainable Development of Mountain Territories», which took place in Makhachkala in October 2025, and on prospects for further cooperation. The meeting was also attended by Minister of Economy and Territorial Development of the Republic of Dagestan Gadzhi Sultanov.
Dmitriy Kobitskiy presented IPA CIS awards to representatives of the Republic who had actively participated in the preparation and conduct of the forum.
The forum brought together representatives of parliaments from the Commonwealth countries, constituent entities of the Russian Federation, relevant ministries and departments, scientists, experts, and delegates from international organizations. In total, around 1 000 people from all IPA CIS Member Nations and other countries participated in the congress event.
The forum's resolution consolidated proposals for developing a balanced state policy that ensures socio-economic development of mountain areas while unconditionally preserving their unique natural and cultural potential.
Additionally, the meeting addressed the outcomes of the International Tourism Forum Travel HUB "Commonwealth", which also took place in Dagestan this year. The forum served as a platform for strategic dialogue on key areas of industry development, including mountain, ecological, and rural tourism, human resources, digitalization, and cross-border cooperation.
At the forum, the concept of an Interstate Mountain Tourist Route (IMTR) was presented. The IMTR aims to unite CIS resorts into a single tourist product based on common standards.
