On Monday, October 6, 2025, Peoria Police Detectives identified 35-year-old Calvin L. Freeman as the suspect in this case.
On Wednesday, October 8, 2025, officers located and detained Freeman in the 2400 block of W. Northland Avenue. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Peoria Police Department for interview purposes.
During the course of the investigation, police executed search warrants on both the vehicle Freeman was driving and the residence on W. Gift Avenue. During the searches, officers located a 9mm handgun inside the residence.
Freeman was subsequently arrested for Aggravated Domestic Battery, Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, No FOID, and Possession of a Weapon by a Felon. He was then transported to the Peoria County Jail.

(PEORIA, IL) On Sunday, October 5, 2025, at approximately 4:51 a.m., Peoria Police officers were dispatched to a local hospital regarding a 34-year-old female who had arrived by private vehicle with a gunshot wound.
The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and was listed in stable condition.
At this time, no suspect information is available.
