City Partners with Alchemia to Expand Public Art Downtown

The City of Novato Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department is proud to partner with Alchemia, a local non-profit supporting artists who have intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) by providing opportunities to share their voices through the visual, performing and creative arts. Through the Voices & Visions initiative, the City will showcase the artwork of Alchemia artists at six kiosks along Grant Avenue in Downtown Novato.

This partnership builds on the success of last year's Voices & Visions Art Walk, a Leadership Novato project through the Novato Chamber of Commerce that displayed Alchemia artists' work throughout downtown businesses. The overwhelmingly positive community response inspired this ongoing collaboration to ensure these talented artists continue to be celebrated and have visibility in our community.

"This initiative demonstrates how art can strengthen community connection," said Parks, Recreation & Community Services Director Katie Gauntlett. "By creating visible opportunities for artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities, we foster inclusion and expression while ensuring our public spaces reflect the diversity of our community."

Since 1998, Alchemia has been elevating the presence of artists with IDD and fostering their artistic development across Sonoma and Marin Counties. Visit Alchemia's Downtown Novato gallery located at 1123 Grant Avenue or explore their work online at alchemia.org.

The City of Novato proudly champions inclusive creativity, supporting opportunities for all artists to be seen, valued and uplifted in our community.
