Luxair brings new-generation E195-E2 aircraft to London City Airport

The E195-E2 is the latest generation of Embraer's E-Jets family and has been designed to combine the flexibility of a regional aircraft with the efficiency and capacity needed to serve markets that larger aircraft cannot always serve as effectively.

Passengers travelling on the E195-E2 will also benefit from the E-Jets' two-by-two seating configuration, meaning there are no middle seats, alongside a quieter and more spacious cabin experience.

Marie Louise Philippe, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing at Embraer, adds: "We are delighted to celebrate Luxair's E195-E2 flight to London City Airport. This milestone highlights the exceptional capabilities of the E2, combining outstanding efficiency, lower emissions, reduced noise and a superior passenger experience. The arrival of Luxair's newest aircraft at LCY further demonstrates how the E195-E2 is enabling airlines to connect key European markets with greater sustainability and operational performance. We congratulate Luxair and London City Airport on this important achievement and look forward to supporting the airline's continued growth with the E2."

With up to 31 flights per week on the London City route, Luxair is introducing the E195-E2 on selected flights.

On Monday, 12 October 2026, passengers travelling on flight LG4594 from London City Airport to Luxembourg were welcomed with champagne, lunch and goody bags before boarding.

About London City Airport

Located in the heart of London's historic Royal Docks, London City Airport (LCY) is London's most central airport and known internationally for its punctuality, speed of service and award-winning passenger experience.

For nearly 40 years, the airport has continued to grow and offers an efficient way to travel. It has a wide and growing network of sought-after routes, giving passengers the chance to enjoy city breaks or longer getaways to destinations across Europe, all with short flight times.

It is the closest airport for over half of Londoners and two thirds of passengers use the London City Airport DLR station, reporting ease of access as one of the reasons they love to travel through the airport. This is complemented by check-in times which are the quickest in the business, making for a streamlined passenger experience for solo travellers, professionals, couples and families.

London City Airport is waiting for approval, via an Airspace Change Process, to welcome new-generation aircraft which can carry higher numbers of passengers. This will enable the airport to grow sustainably towards its approved passenger cap of nine million passengers per year.

In 2025, London City Airport was voted the Best Airport in the UK in the prestigious Condé Nast Traveller UK Readers' Choice Awards 2025.
