Deputy Commissioner appears before Senate Standing Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology on Bill S-5

The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada's Deputy Commissioner and Senior General Counsel, Marc Chénier, appeared today before the Senate Standing Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology (SOCI) on Bill S-5, the Connected Care for Canadians Act.
In his remarks, Deputy Commissioner Chénier said that interoperability between systems would help to ensure that personal health information can flow more easily across systems, providing patients with greater access to their health records and more control over their information.
He added that the OPC supports a more interoperable digital health system that includes measures to ensure that privacy is properly protected.
