Municipal Veterans Day celebration and property tax exemptions

In recognition of Veterans Day, Mayor Suzanne LaFrance encourages disabled Anchorage veterans and surviving spouses of military members to review and apply for property tax exemptions available to them through the Municipality of Anchorage.

"Anchorage is home to many who have served and sacrificed for our country," said Mayor LaFrance. "We are profoundly grateful for their commitment, and it is important that our veterans and their families have access to the benefits they've earned."

o Qualified disabled veterans may be eligible for a property tax exemption. Applicants must provide a current VA Benefits Summary letter-dated within one year-indicating a minimum 50% service-connected disability and the veteran's discharge date.

"These exemptions are just one of the ways we acknowledge our veterans and their families," said LaFrance. "I encourage all who may be eligible to apply or share this information, and to join us tomorrow at Merrill Field to honor and celebrate them."
