NAWC ANNOUNCES NEW 2026 CHAIR AND BOARD OF DIRECTORS

PHILADELPHIA (October 1, 2025) - The National Association of Water Companies (NAWC) has elected Patrick Kerr, President and CEO of Baton Rouge Water, to serve as the Chair of NAWC'S Board of Directors for 2026. A dedicated and influential leader within NAWC, Kerr most recently served as Vice Chair, in addition to being on NAWC's Regulatory and Legislative Committee.

This leadership transition follows the announcement of NAWC's new board of directors at its annual Water Summit, held from September 29 to October 1 in Miami, Florida.

"We are thrilled to welcome Patrick Kerr as our new Board Chair," said NAWC President and CEO Robert F. Powelson. "His extensive experience in the water industry, coupled with his proven leadership at Baton Rouge Water and deep commitment to NAWC's mission, makes him the ideal person to guide our Board forward. As we continue to advocate for sound water policy and support our member companies in delivering essential services, I am confident that NAWC will achieve new heights in the coming year."

Patrick Kerr, Baton Rouge Water's president and CEO, brings a wealth of experience to his new role as President of the NAWC board. With over 31 years at Baton Rouge Water, Kerr has a proven track record of success. His leadership journey includes serving as Chair of Baton Rouge Water's Board of Directors to which he was first elected in 2018. Prior to his roles in the water industry, Kerr served for 10 years as an active U.S. Army officer and an additional 10 years as a reservist.

"The private water sector plays a central role in our nation's infrastructure, and I am eager to contribute to its continued strength and innovation," said Kerr. "I am deeply committed to the vital work NAWC does in representing the private water industry and advocating for policies that ensure safe, reliable and affordable water service. I look forward to collaborating with my fellow board members, NAWC staff and our member companies to address the challenges and seize the opportunities ahead."

Kerr's commitment to the water industry extends beyond NAWC; he also served as the immediate past-president of the Board of Directors of the American Water Works Association (AWWA). Kerr is assuming the role of Board Chair from outgoing Chair Martin A. Kropelnicki, President & Chief Executive Officer of California Water Service Group.

"On behalf of the entire NAWC community, I want to extend a huge thank you to Martin Kropelnicki for his exceptional leadership as Board Chair," Powelson said. "Under his guidance, NAWC and our member companies navigated significant challenges and business pressures with remarkable resilience. Marty's strategic vision has positioned us for continued success, and his contributions will have a lasting positive impact on our organization."
