Rep. Kimberly New Announces $200,000 in Funding for Douglas County Arts and Culture Campus

ATLANTA - State Representative Kimberly New (R-Villa Rica) today announces the inclusion of $200,000 in the Amended Fiscal Year 2026 (AFY 2026) budget to support the creation of the new Douglas County Arts and Culture Campus.

"I am grateful that this funding was included in our state's AFY 2026 budget to support the creation of the Douglas County Arts and Culture Campus," said Rep. New. "These funds will support Douglasville's arts and culture community with an expanded and accessible space to house performances, exhibits and educational opportunities, with the goal of serving residents and visitors alike. This investment represents a meaningful step toward enriching our community and strengthening local economic development through the arts."

The Cultural Arts Campus Project was created with the goal of bringing together government, architectural and other local organizations into one accessible and convenient space for the community. The new arts center will include: distinctive architecture to complement existing downtown structures; 340 seat traditional theater; black box/multiuse space; art gallery/exhibit rooms; resident artist studios; music, art, craft and theater classrooms; permanent food stall court; culinary training kitchens; culinary training restaurant; office space for staff; roof deck social area; outdoor green space/sculpture garden; and fine art storage space for permanent and loaned collections.

Representative Kimberly New represents the citizens of House District 40, which includes portions of Douglas and Paulding counties. She was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2022 and currently serves Vice Chair of the Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee and as Secretary of the Intragovernmental Coordination Committee. She also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Motor Vehicles and Natural Resources & Environment committees.
