IDB Group Appoints Pilar Girón Dávila as Vice President for Human Resources and Digital Transformation

WASHINGTON - The Inter-American Development Bank Group (IDB Group) today announced the appointment of Pilar Girón Dávila as Vice President for Human Resources and Digital Transformation, effective October 16, 2025.

Her appointment was approved last week by the IDB Board of Executive Directors. In this role, Girón Dávila will be responsible for ensuring that human resources and digital transformation strategies are fully aligned with the Group's topline objectives. She will also enhance the culture of impact, trust, and meritocracy, enabling the Group to more effectively serve its member countries and clients.

"Pilar brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to people-centered transformation. Her vision reaffirms our belief that our people - and the tools that empower them - are at the heart of delivering impact across Latin America and the Caribbean," said IDB Group President Ilan Goldfajn.

A citizen of Spain, Girón Dávila has more than 30 years of leadership experience in human resources and strategic planning. Since 2019, she has served as Chief People Officer for Telefónica Hispanoamérica, where she led HR strategies, policies, and practices across eight countries and was a member of the Executive Committee. Her prior roles at Telefónica include Head of HR for Latin America, based in São Paulo, and Global Director of Talent Management.

Girón Dávila has held other senior executive positions throughout her career in diverse industries and regions. She holds a degree in business administration from ICADE in Madrid and an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School.

The Human Resources and Digital Transformation Vice Presidency (VHR) was created last year under the Group's institutional strategy, IDBStrategy+. By bringing together human resources and information technology under a single vice presidency, the IDB Group seeks to strengthen collaboration and ensure closer alignment between workforce needs and technological capabilities, ultimately enabling the Group to serve its member countries and clients more effectively.
