OMB Bank and FHLB Des Moines Award $170,000 to 12 Missouri Organizations

OMB Bank, in partnership with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines, today announced $170,000 in grants to 12 organizations across Southwest Missouri through the FHLB's Member Impact Fund. OMB Bank contributed $42,500 and FHLB Des Moines provided $127,500 in matching funds.

This matching grant program is designed to amplify the community engagement of FHLB Des Moines member institutions that support local housing, business and economic needs. In Missouri, 956 applications received funding through partnerships with 174 member institutions. FHLB Des Moines matched $3 for every $1 contributed by a member institution, resulting in $6.5 million from members and $19.4 million awarded by FHLB Des Moines.

"These grants reflect what community banking should look like - local organizations identifying real needs and local institutions finding ways to increase their impact," said Jeff Palmer, president and CFO of OMB Bank. "By pairing OMB's investment with FHLB Des Moines' matching funds, we're helping 12 organizations do more for families, students, neighborhoods and communities large and small across Southwest Missouri."

Local grant recipients include:

• Carthage Economic Development Corporation (Restore My Block Program): Carthage - $20,000 total ($5,000 from OMB and $15,000 from FHLB Des Moines) to reimburse eligible residents for qualifying home improvements that strengthen and beautify local neighborhoods.
• Bright Beacon Company: Dallas County - $10,000 total ($2,500 from OMB and $7,500 from FHLB Des Moines) to provide shelter and restorative services for survivors of domestic violence.
• Dallas County Economic Development Group: Buffalo and Dallas County - $10,000 total ($2,500 from OMB and $7,500 from FHLB Des Moines) for strategic planning including a housing study, wage survey, grant-writing support and initiatives tied to Agri-Ready County and Work Ready Community certification.
• North Point Church d/b/a Springfield Dream Center: Springfield - $10,000 total ($2,500 from OMB and $7,500 from FHLB Des Moines) for programs that address immediate family needs and long-term stability including diaper distribution, community nights, toddler programming, senior food boxes and S.T.E.P. classes.
• Care to Learn: Springfield - $20,000 total ($5,000 from OMB and $15,000 from FHLB Des Moines) as working capital to help school staff respond quickly and anonymously to students' health, hunger and hygiene needs across 55 school districts.
• Restore SGF: Springfield - $40,000 total ($10,000 from OMB and $30,000 from FHLB Des Moines) to support down payment and closing-cost assistance for qualified first-time homebuyers purchasing in designated low-to-moderate-income neighborhoods.
• Victory Mission: Springfield - $10,000 total ($2,500 from OMB and $7,500 from FHLB Des Moines) to support emergency shelter and street outreach, the 12- to 18-month residential Restoration Program and workforce-development programs such as WorkReady BootCamp, internships, mentorships, classes and apprenticeships.
• Hartville R-II School District: Hartville - $10,000 total ($2,500 from OMB and $7,500 from FHLB Des Moines) to support high school, middle school and youth basketball, baseball and softball programs for boys and girls in the approximately 600-student district.
• Emergency Services for Children: Mount Vernon - $10,000 total ($2,500 from OMB and $7,500 from FHLB Des Moines) to provide students in financial need with basic necessities, school supplies, medical care, medications and funding for extracurricular activities.
• Holiday Central of Mount Vernon: Mount Vernon - $10,000 total ($2,500 from OMB and $7,500 from FHLB Des Moines) to provide Christmas gifts, food and hygiene items to local families in need.
• Mount Vernon R5 School District: Mount Vernon - $10,000 total ($2,500 from OMB and $7,500 from FHLB Des Moines) to purchase resources and supplies for Applied Hydroponics and Principles of Biomedical Science courses that connect students with STEM learning and career exploration.
• Lockwood R-1 School District (Softball Program): Lockwood - $10,000 total ($2,500 from OMB and $7,500 from FHLB Des Moines) to purchase updated equipment for the rural district's softball program.

Since its launch in 2023, the Member Impact Fund has provided more than $106 million in grants from FHLB Des Moines, generating more than $144 million in combined support for affordable housing and community development. Notably, every eligible application submitted to the program has received funding, reflecting the bank's strong commitment to partnership and impact.
