As technology continues to transform how people and goods move, the transportation industry is advancing toward an increasingly connected, technology-enabled future. As transportation agencies work to navigate this transformation, Ahmed Amer, PhD, PE, PTOE, has been promoted to Mid-Atlantic Director of Transportation Technology.

In this role, Ahmed will lead transportation technology initiatives across the region, helping clients advance solutions that improve safety, mobility, and system performance. He will collaborate with teams throughout VHB to deliver integrated services spanning Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS), tolling, managed lanes, smart communities, and connected and autonomous vehicle (CAV) technologies.

"As transportation systems become increasingly data-informed and connected, agencies are seeking solutions that address congestion, improve safety, and prepare for future technologies," said Joe Wanat, Mid-Atlantic Regional Manager. "Ahmed's leadership and technical knowledge will help clients identify opportunities, navigate emerging technologies, and implement solutions that deliver measurable benefits for the communities they serve."

Ahmed has 22 years of experience, including 14 years focused on ITS, transportation technology, and data-informed solutions.
