Evening on the Lake: Alleviating Human Suffering in the Face of Emergencies: The American Red Cross' Response to the Johnstown Flood and the September 11 Attacks.

South Fork, PA- The first Evening on the Lake program of the season, Alleviating Human Suffering in the Face of Emergencies: The American Red Cross' Response to the Johnstown Flood and the September 11 Attacks is Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at 7 p.m. Join park rangers from Johnstown Flood National Memorial and Flight 93 National Memorial as they discuss how the American Red Cross grew as an organization, but its mission remained the same from the 1889 Johnstown Flood to the September 11th attacks of 2001.

The program takes place in the Club House located at 186 Main Street in St. Michael. This free program is sponsored by the Friends of Johnstown Flood National Memorial. The program will also be presented at Flight 93 National Memorial on June 6 in the Memorial Classroom, located adjacent to the Visitor Center.
