Remarks by Chinese Ambassador to Canada Wang Di at 2025 Ambassador's Award Ceremony

Today, it is with great honour and the utmost respect, that I present the Ambassador's Award to nine outstanding individuals. Let us once again offer them our warmest congratulations and deepest respect with another round of applause!

It is heartening to see that through the joint efforts of both sides, China-Canada relations have achieved a comprehensive turnaround after years of turbulence, with practical cooperation in various fields resuming and restarting. At this moment, we are especially grateful to the visionary individuals who have remained steadfast in their commitment over the past years, and persevered through difficulties to consistently support and promote China-Canada relations. The nine award winners are the outstanding representatives of this group.

Never intimidated by attacks or pressure, they have done many concrete and commendable deeds that are helpful to China-Canada friendship and cooperation. We see in them an exemplary character and spirit-one of nobleness, purity, integrity, resilience and unwavering commitment to always do the right things. It was them that nurtured the flame of China-Canada friendship. Their unshakable conviction let those uncertain about the future of the bilateral ties see the light at the end of the tunnel. And their decisive actions inspired those committed to the bilateral friendship. It has been proven and will continue to be proved that they stand on the right side of history, and what they have done are real good things that truly benefit the people of both countries.

The cause of China-Canada friendship is one that must be advanced year after year, and a baton that must be passed on from generation to generation. With tonight's award winners as role models, let us draw strength from their spirit and actions, continue to build on and carry forward China-Canada historical heritage, nurture and deepen our friendship, and consolidate and expand our cooperation, so as to bring more tangible benefits to the two peoples. I am confident that the future will see the emergence of more outstanding individuals who support China-Canada friendship, just like today's award winners.
