WASHINGTON - Senator John Hoeven introduced a resolution declaring October 26th as the "Day of the Deployed." The resolution calls upon the American people to remember and honor the bravery and sacrifice of the men and women who are, or who have been deployed, on behalf of the United States Armed Forces. As Governor of North Dakota, Hoeven launched the first Day of the Deployed, on October 26, 2006, and as Senator, has continued to lead the national effort in the U.S. Senate. Presently, more than 2 million individuals serve in the U.S. Armed Forces, including active duty, Guard and Reserve components.
"Freedom isn't free, and the Day of the Deployed is a reminder of the courage and sacrifice it takes to protect our country," said Hoeven. "Every year on October 26, we recognize the men and women who leave the comforts of home to serve, and the families who support them with strength and dedication."
