Dentons and KCAB International Explore ADR Strategies at Seoul ADR Festival 2025

On 30 October 2025, Dentons Rodyk, Dentons Lee (Korea), and the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board (KCAB) International jointly hosted a seminar in Seoul on the use of mediation and arbitration as alternative dispute resolution (ADR) methods. As a partner event of the Seoul ADR Festival 2025, this seminar brought together in-house counsel, dispute resolution practitioners, and industry professionals to share their perspectives on achieving faster and cheaper dispute resolution while maintaining strong commercial relationships.

The seminar emphasized the importance of selecting the right dispute resolution method - litigation, arbitration, or mediation - based on the nature and goals of each case. Mr. Jung-Kyum Kim, Senior Attorney at Dentons Lee shared valuable insights on the advantages and disadvantages of litigation and arbitration, highlighting how businesses can select the appropriate forum for resolving disputes. Mr. Melvin See, Senior Partner at Dentons Rodyk, outlined the mediation procedures and mechanics, and explored how practical and mutually beneficial outcomes could be achieved through mediation that would otherwise typically not be possible in litigation or arbitration. Practical insights on mediation strategies were shared at a panel discussion comprising Senior Partners from Dentons Rodyk (Mr Koh Kia Jeng, Mr Melvin See, Ms Loh Jen Wei and Ms Melissa Thng) and Mr Kurt Gerstner (Senior Attorney, Dentons Lee), moderated by Mr Arthur Choy (Senior Attorney, Dentons Lee).
