China: China Releases Draft Guidelines and Thresholds for the Determination of Essentially Derived Varieties

On March 20, 2026, MARA released two documents for public comment related to its plant variety protection regulations. One document contains draft guidelines for determining Essentially Derived Varieties (EDVs), and the other document outlines thresholds for determining EDVs for ten crops including rice. The deadline for comment submissions for both draft documents is March 27, 2026.
