February 06, 2026- Philadelphia, PA
Governor Josh Shapiro and Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development Secretary Rick Siger will announce a significant new investment to expand Pennsylvania's workforce and grow the economy through the Commonwealth's Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP). Thanks to the Shapiro Administration's support, Steamfitters Local 420 will expand its training center, preparing over 100 additional apprentices to enter Pennsylvania's workforce each year.
Since taking office, Governor Shapiro has increased funding from $118 million to $183 million for vo-tech, career and technical education (CTE), and apprenticeship programs - a nearly 50 percent increase in just three years. The Governor's 2026-27 proposed budget invests an additional $18 million into vo-tech, CTE, and apprenticeship programs to further train Pennsylvania's future workforce.
