DPW to Resume Regular Trash Collection Schedule for Frontside and Alley Collections on Monday, February 2

Over the weekend, the Department of Public Works (DPW) resumed residential trash and recycling collections. On Saturday, January 31, more than 10,000 households received frontside collections and teams were out again on Sunday. Additionally, the District deployed bobcats to clear pathways through alleyways, and those teams have been working around the clock and prioritizing alleys that normally receive Monday and Tuesday collections.

Today, DPW is announcing that on Monday, February 2, collections will resume on the normal collection schedule for both frontside collections and alley collections.

Frontside Collection:

  • Normal DPW collection schedule resumes on Monday, February 2.
  • If your regular pickup day is Monday and you have frontside pickup, your trash and recycling will be collected on Monday. If your regular pickup day is Tuesday and you have frontside pickup, your trash and recycling will be collected Tuesday, and so on.

Alley Collection:

  • DPW is working around the clock using bobcats to clear pathways through alleys for collection.
  • Put your trash and recycling cans out as best as possible on the regular collection day and leave it out until it has been collected.
  • Check DPW social media daily for updates on progress.

Frontside and Alley Collections:

  • If your trash and recycling does not get collected on your regular collection day, leave it out and it will be prioritized the next day.
  • If it still has not been picked up two days after your regular collection day, report it to 311.
  • Trash and recycling will continue to be collected by the same trucks this week, so residents can put out trash and recycling cans together regardless of whether it is a regularly scheduled recycling collection day. Households with space in their recycling cans may choose to wait for regular recycling collections to resume before putting their recycling out.
