Fall cleanup season is here, and our crews are ready to help you keep your yard looking its best!
Here are some useful tips to consider before you gather everything up, along with important information on why it's perfectly fine to leave the leaves behind as well.
When it comes to light yard waste such as leaves, pine straw, and grass clippings, be sure to use clear 35-gallon plastic bags. There's no need to make a call in advance, simply place these bags at the curb on your regular trash collection day.
Please don't bag dirt, rocks, mulch, or sod. These items make bags too heavy to lift safely and can tear open when collected. Bags with heavy materials won't be picked up.
Each household can set out up to 30 clear bags per week, or 50 bags per week during November and December when leaf season is in full swing.
Don't want to bag up your leaves or grass clippings? Great! Simply leave them on the lawn or mulch them. The leaves and clippings act as free fertilizer and return nutrients and moisture right back to your soil.
Please remember, it's never okay to rake or blow leaves and grass into ditches or storm drains. It can cause flooding and harm local waterways by fueling algae growth.
For bigger yard debris like limbs, bushes, or tree cuttings, request a bulk waste pickup online or by calling 757-382-CITY.
