NEW: Under Trump, Consumer Confidence Drops to Lowest Point EVER Arrow

New data released today shows that consumer sentiment dropped 3.5 index points this month, the steepest drop in years, across political party, income, age, and education. Year-ahead inflation expectations surged from 3.8% in March to 4.7% in April, the largest one-month increase since April of last year. Consumer sentiment is now at its lowest level ever recorded.

And today, Gallup's Economic Confidence Index dropped ten points to -38 in April, indicating Americans are more pessimistic about both the current economic conditions and the economy's direction.

In response,DNC Rapid Response Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:

"Donald Trump and JD Vance have spent the last year ignoring the plight of working families who are just trying to get by in the face of sticker shock at the grocery store, rising health care costs, and surging prices at the pump. Trump and Vance have plunged the country into a war that's costing billions in taxpayer dollars. Meanwhile the White House claims there's no funding for health care, food, or schools. It's no surprise that consumers are more pessimistic under Trump than ever before in recorded history."
