CBP announces 90-day extended hours program for empty trailers at Colombia Solidarity Bridge

LAREDO, Texas - U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Port of Laredo, in coordination with Corporacion para el Desarrollo de la Zona Fronteriza de Nuevo Leon, will begin a 90-day program extending weekday operational hours for tractors and empty trailers at the Colombia Solidarity Bridge beginning Monday, September 14, 2026.

Under the program, weekday operations for tractors and empty trailers will begin one hour earlier, at 7 a.m., and continue through midnight, Monday through Friday. The current weekday hours of operation are 8 a.m. to midnight.

"This program reflects CBP's continued commitment to facilitating lawful trade and improving the efficiency of cross-border operations," said Port Director Albert Flores, Laredo Port of Entry. "By opening one hour earlier for tractors and empty trailers, we aim to help reduce morning congestion and support the transportation community that depends on efficient northbound processing at the Colombia Solidarity Bridge."

The program is intended to mitigate northbound morning traffic congestion from Colombia, Nuevo León, to Laredo, Texas. Data analysis indicates a significant volume of tractors and empty trailers transit during the early morning hours. Advancing the daily start time to 7 a.m. is expected to improve operational throughput and reduce wait times for transportation stakeholders.

The extended hours apply exclusively to tractors and empty trailers. It does not apply to commercial conveyances transporting merchandise, including informal entries.
