POWDR ADVENTURE LIFESTYLE CO. RECOGNIZED WITH TOP INDUSTRY ACCOLADES

PARK CITY, Utah., May 9, 2017-POWDR Adventure Lifestyle Co.mountain resorts were recognized as winners and finalists by the national ski industry trade group, National Ski Areas Association (NSAA), and the mountain resort professional trade publication, Ski Area Management.

At its annual National Convention and Trade Show held last week, NSAA gave select ski areas top honors for their 2016-17 marketing programs. The marketing awards are based on successful programs that ultimately help grow participation in skiing and snowboarding.

POWDR's Boreal Mountain Resort in California earned the marketing award for Best Use of Mobile Technology. Pico Mountain in Vermont won for Best "Bring a Friend" Campaign, and Killington Resort, also in Vermont, took home the award for Best Overall Marketing Campaign on behalf of the 2016 Women's World Cup.

POWDR's Copper Mountain Resort in Colorado and Mt. Bachelor in Oregon won two of NSAA's four Sustainable Slopes Grants. Established in 2009 to support mountain-resort sustainability projects, the Sustainable Slopes Grant Program has awarded nearly $124,000 in cash grants and close to $360,000 in-kind donations.

Copper Mountain's Sustainable Slopes award consists of five high-efficiency HKD snowmaking guns, valued at $23,000 and designed to decrease compressed air consumption, save power, and reduce carbon footprints. The upgrade will help Copper reach its Climate Challenge goal of reducing emissions by 12,000 MTCO2e.

Mt. Bachelor's award is a cash grant to install an infrared motion-sensor lighting system in its Pine Marten Lodge. The automated lighting system will replace the current manual system and allow for off-site monitoring, helping reduce electricity use and carbon footprint. Mt. Bachelor's $5,000 grant was made possible by Clif Bar & Company.

The NSAA Conversion Cup Challenge is an annual award given to resorts that have developed programs to convert new skiers and snowboarders into lifelong enthusiasts. POWDR's Boreal Mountain Resort and Copper Mountain Resort were among the four finalists amid a strong field of ski areas across the US. The Conversion Cup initiative began in 2010 in effort to drive competition among ski areas and recognize those that make significant strides to boost conversion rates.

In addition to NSAA, Ski Area Management Magazine also gave industry recognitions last week. The SAMMY Leadership Awards are based on peer nominations and given to individuals whose leadership skills help steer the snowsports industry into the future.

POWDR's Amy Ohran was one of three 2017 SAMMY award winners. Ohran is president and general manager of Boreal Mountain Resort, Soda Springs, and Woodward Tahoe. Prior to that, she was snowsports school director and director of staff and snowsports at Mt. Bachelor. Ohran serves on the NSAA Snowboard Growth Initiative Committee and the California Snowsports Industry Association Board and Sustainability Committee. Under Amy's leadership, Soda Springs Resort earned the 2016 NSAA Golden Eagle Award for environmental excellence for the Recycled Water Initiative that enabled the resort to become the first in California to use 100 percent recycled water for snowmaking.
