SFO Is Ready to Kick Off Super Bowl LX Travel

Airport outlines extra flights, travel advice, activities and places to watch the game

SAN FRANCISCO - January 30, 2026 - The San Francisco International Airport (SFO) announced the start of travel related to Super Bowl LX on February 8th, outlining extra flights, passenger traffic forecasts, travel advice, innovative passenger activations, and places to watch the game at SFO.

Extra flights, passenger forecast

Airlines have scheduled 28 additional flights for the Super Bowl, including 10 extra arrivals on Friday, February 6th and 13 additional departures on Monday, February 9th. Officials expect approximately 1.3 million passengers to travel through SFO between February 1st and February 10th. The busiest single day is anticipated to be Monday, February 9th, with approximately 170,000 travelers going through SFO, a figure similar to the busiest holiday travel days.

Allow extra time getting to the Airport

Travelers are strongly encouraged to arrive at the airport at least 2 hours prior to departure for domestic flights and 3 hours prior to departure for international flights.

Pack Super Bowl game programs in carry-on bags

For security purposes, travelers are recommended to place commemorative game programs in a bin when going through the security screening process.

Super Bowl-themed passenger activations

Starting Monday of Super Bowl week, SFO passengers can experience a series of "fan zones" located in multiple terminals.

• Harvey Milk Terminal 1: NFL Super Bowl LX photo booth, with a mock football field and SFO logo, located post-security across from Equator Coffees.
• Terminal 2: SFO Tailgate Party, complete with a gridiron floor, giant inflated footballs, games and prizes, located post-security near Compass Books.
• Terminal 3: Hologram welcome screens featuring 49er Hall of Famers Steve Young and Jerry Rice, along with San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie, located in the F Gates Food Court and E Gates exit.

Places to watch the game at SFO
