UW-Stevens Point’s Treehaven field station offering public spring programming


The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Treehaven field station invites visitors to explore the natural world through public programs this spring.

Treehaven is offering various public programs this March through May. Unless otherwise indicated, programs take place at Treehaven's campus, located at W2540 Pickerel Creek Road, Tomahawk. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Parking is available on-site, and guests should follow signs for Office/Check-in to reach program meeting spaces.

Spring programs include:

  • Spring Hike Series - Sunday, March 28, April 4 and April 11, 1-5 p.m. - Embark on a series of guided hikes to explore Treehaven trails and discover Northwoods ecology! $15/person/session.
  • Wildlife Wednesday: Wolves - Wednesday, March 25, 6:30-7:30 p.m. - Learn about the ecology and history of wolves in Wisconsin at a pondside campfire talk. Free to attend!
  • Dinner and a Speaker: WI Invertebrates - Wednesday, April 1, 5-8:30 p.m. - Enjoy a great meal, then join Kathryn Prince from the Xerces Society to explore Wisconsin invertebrates. Registration Closed, contact to be waitlisted. $40/person.
  • Wildlife Wednesday: Loons - Wednesday, April 15, 5-6 p.m. - Learn about and listen for these iconic water birds at a pondside campfire talk. Free to attend!
  • Wildlife Wednesday: Wasps - Wednesday, May 6, 5-6 p.m. - Discover how the world of wasps might be different than you expect by searching for and observing them outdoors. Free to attend!
  • Incredible Invertebrates (NRF Field Trip) - Saturday, May 9, 1-4 p.m. - Catch, observe, and release invertebrates at Treehaven and learn about their importance! Register starting 4/8 through Natural Resources Foundation of WI. $28/adult, $18/child.
  • Citizen Science 101 - Monday, May 11, 5-7:30 p.m. at CAVOC, 4321 S Shore Dr., Rhinelander - Transform the way you interact with nature by learning how to contribute to digital citizen science projects. Register through the Rhinelander Community Education Program. $20/person.
